Heading south down US 431 yesterday, I was quickly reminded NOT to approach that bridge at Pettit with at full speed.

Road crews are preparing the Panther Creek Bridge for a paint job, hence the stoppage.

But, for now, that lane restriction has been temporarily lifted following the completion of preliminary maintenance and rigging work on the bridge.

When you get out there, you will see a yellow caution light, so take heed. It's a busy stretch of road anyway.

If the weather allows, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, contractors expect to get back at it in roughly two to four weeks in order to finish the paint job on the bridge.

They're looking at a target completion date of November 15, 2018, so this is a pretty extensive job.

The Panther Creek bridge on Highway 81 is closed until September 16th for the same purpose.
