Going through a list of 50 national restaurant chains that have certain days, or maybe all days, when kids can eat free, I ran across quite a few that I've never heard of before in my life.

But, yeah, there are 50 of them and maybe it's not a bad idea to keep them in mind if you're traveling.

Although, to be honest, I don't think I've seen most of them while TRAVELING, either.

But they're out there. And many of them look really good.

But let's start with what's close to home and ONE that IS home.

Also, keep in mind that the "kids eat free" specials in all of these restaurants come with an additional purchase, usually an adult meal.

There are Romano's Macaroni Grill locations in Nashville and Louisville and I love it! There are great healthy selections at Romano's, too.

Getting even closer, there's Steak 'n Shake in Evansville, which offers this special all week.  Tumbleweed also has nights when kids eat free. There are locations in Evansville and Henderson.

IHOP also offers it all week long. There's one in Evansville. There's also a Chili's which is on the list. But it's the most limited--one time only. And there's Bob Evans.

And, finally, we get to the only chain on the list which has an Owensboro location. And that one is O'Charley's and their "kids eat free" special is good all week long, too. Of course, you have to purchase an adult meal and it doesn't come with a beverage. But that's no big deal. You'll probably be dining with your children and water's free.

Oh, by the way, IKEA is on the list, which is a real head-scratcher. What do you have to do...put the food together when it gets to your table?
