WBKR's brand new talent contest continues.  We're giving singers and bands in the tristate the chance to open for LOCASH at Friday After 5 in downtown Owensboro on Friday, August 24th.  At our first audition a couple of weeks agao at Fetta Specialty Pizza, Courtney Peveler of Central City, Kentucky sang her way into the finals.  This past Saturday at PizzAroma, two acts made their way through to the finale: Julia Capagrossi from Nashville, Tennessee and Adam Scott from Ohio County.  Now, just two open audition locations remain  If you have the talent to take the stage or know someone who does, here's where YOU can enter the Friday Night Fight!

Our next audition is set for Tuesday, July 10th at Gordy's Owensboro Music on Breckinridge Street in Owensboro.  We'll close out our auditions on Saturday, July 14th at Beaver Dam Amphitheatre.

The grand prize?  We're giving one lucky act the chance to open for LOCASH when they play Friday After 5 in downtown Owensboro on Friday, August 24th.  In addition to serving as the official opening act for LOCASH, our Friday Night Fight winner will also receive a $1000 shopping spree at Gordy's Owensboro Music.  Know someone with the talent to compete?  Here are the official rules for the contest!

WBKR’S FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT

Presented by Gordy’s Owensboro Music and Friday After 5

Official Contest Rules

 #1- Contestants must be 13 years of age by August 4th, 2018.

#2-  To be eligible for WBKR’S FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT . . . presented by Gordy’s Owensboro Music and Friday After 5…participants MUST audition at one of several pre-determined open-call audition sites, located throughout the WBKR listening area.  Auditions will be held in the months of June and July of 2018 at the following locations on the following dates . .

GORDY'S OWENSBORO MUSIC- Tuesday, July 10th (6pm)

BEAVER DAM AMPHITHEATRE- Saturday, July 14th (6pm)

#3-  To audition, participants MUST register at their chosen audition site or sites before the stated audition time.  Registrations open ONE HOUR PRIOR to start of auditions.  Participants must also provide own accompaniment . . . whether it be instrumental CD track, guitar or keyboard.  CD tracks must ONLY contain BACKGROUND vocals.  Participants determined to be singing along with a lead vocal will be disqualified from the audition process.  Keyboards should have built-in speakers (or other external sound source) in the event patching is not an option.

#4-  A panel of WBKR’S FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT judges will choose one finalist from each FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT audition location.  Any remaining finalists will be designated as “wild card” entries and may/will be selected from the entire pool of hopefuls.  Selections of FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT finalists are final and indisputable.

#5- Since judges may vary at each FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT audition location, would-be participants can audition at multiple audition locations if they so choose and are encouraged to do so.

#6- WBKR’S FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT is open to solo acts, duos, small ensembles and bands.  However, due to space/sound restrictions imposed by Friday After 5, any band participating MUST perform in an ACOUSTIC manner both during auditions and at FRIDAY AFTER 5 (in the event a band indeed wins).  Amps are PROHIBITED.  Drum sets are PROHIBITED, though a single snare, bongo or beat box is allowed.  THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THESE RULES in either the audition or finale process. Failure to adhere to this rule could result in immediate disqualification from the contest.

#7- The WBKR FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT finale is 7pm, Saturday, Aug 4th at DIAMOND LAKE THEATRE at 7301 Hobbs Road, Owensboro, KY.  Tickets for the finale event will go on sale following the culmination of the audition process and the announcement of finalists.  Tickets are $10 per person and will be available for purchase at WBKR.com, the WBKR studios and Diamond Lake Campground and Resort.

#8-   WBKR’S FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT finalists MUST participate in the finale event to be eligible for grand prize consideration.

#9-  At WBKR’S FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT finale event, finalists will prepare THREE songs.  Please note, there will be a limit of EIGHT finalists and those finalists will compete, bracket-style, in a series of head-to-head eliminations.  Our judges will provide live performance feedback after each round and then declare a winner to advance.  The finale will continue in this manner through semifinal and final rounds.  The judges’ decisions are final and indisputable.

#10- The winner of WBKR’S FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT will win a $1000 shopping spree at Gordy’s Owensboro Music and officially open for LOCASH, Friday, August 24th at Friday After 5 in Owensboro.  The champion(s) will prepare a full 45-min to 1-hour-long set.  Any sound requirements by the champion and those participating in the performance MUST be cleared by WBKR personnel, who will then get clearance from the organizers of Friday After 5.

#11-  The champion of WBKR’S FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT must also get pre-approval of his/her/their set list to ensure that it does not conflict with the LOCASH set list.

#12-  In addition to appearing on stage at Friday After 5, the champion of WBKR’S FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT is invited to appear live in the WBKR studios in advance of August 24th, 2018.  While the invitation to appear is optional, it is encouraged as it presents an excellent opportunity for additional media exposure.

#13-  The Country Station, 92.5 WBKR, Gordy’s Owensboro Music and the organizers of Friday After 5 reserve the right to change any of the above rules or prizes without notice before and/or during the contest.  Decisions of the WBKR staff and its partners are final and cannot be disputed.

#14-  Owners, employees, servants or agents of WBKR, Gordy’s Owensboro Music and Friday After 5 and other sponsors or relatives or family members of such owners, officers, directors, employees, servants or agents are NOT eligible to participate in WBKR’s FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT.  However, finalists of past WBKR-sponsored talent contests such as “Willie-Oke,” “Goldie’s Survivor,” and “The Battle for the Big O” may participate in our newest talent search.  In fact, past champions of the aforementioned contests ARE eligible to compete.

In consideration of the forgoing and for valuable consideration, I hereby forever release and discharge Townsquare Media, Gordy’s Owensboro Music, Friday After 5 and their officers, directors, and any employees from any claim, loss, or damage caused by or arising out of my participation in the aforementioned contest, or related to the prize itself, or its use and/or operation by myself and/or my guests.  Townsquare Media, Gordy’s Owensboro Music, Friday After 5 and have completely fulfilled their obligation to me as a potential prize winner   I acknowledge that I am not, nor is anyone in my immediate family eligible to win any prize(s) on this radio station for 30 days.  I further acknowledge that I am responsible for all local, state, and federal taxes and license fees arising out of my participation in this contest and I will receive IRS Form 1099 within 31 days from the end of the calendar year should the value of the total prize consideration exceed $600.00 (Six Hundred Dollars and no cents).
