Summertime is big-time barbecue picnic season. So mark you calendars for Saturday, July 1st, and get your appetite ready for the St. Mary Magdalene Picnic.

St. Mary Magdalene, on Highway 56 in Sorgho, will  offer carry-out and drive-thru service and offer up mutton, chicken, burgoo, and pork.

Plate dinners will feature your choice of meat (two half-servings or one full serving of mutton, chicken, or pork) and sides.

My mouth is already watering.

Of course, there will be plenty of reasons to stay and enjoy activities like the cake wheel (a picnic classic), pony rides, bingo, the bag game, and so much more.

Plus, there will be raffle drawings with the first being an OC K-6 tuition or the prize's cash value of $3500.

There will also be a silent auction, donations for which are currently being accepted. Please contact Heath or Leanna Byrne if you would like to make a donation.

The booths will open at 3 and the serving begins at 4.

And now you have plans for July 1st, don't you?
