Celebrate National Ghost Hunting Day this coming Saturday, September 30th at one of the scariest places in the Tri-State: Waverly Hills Sanatorium! Located in Louisville, Kentucky, Waverly Hills Sanatorium is recognized world-wide as one of the spookiest places in the world.

Once a tuberculosis hospital opened in 1910, the building has long been defunct but the legend of spirits still lives outside the walls of the Sanatorium. According to the official Waverly Hills website, Waverly Hills had it’s own zipcode, post office, water treatment facility, and was almost entirely self sufficient. However, everyone at Waverly including staff and patients were forced to leave normal life outside of the Waverly grounds behind. Once you were admitted to Waverly Hills Sanatorium, you NEVER LEFT...

This, of course, was due to the fact that tuberculosis was a highly contagious and deadly disease and it was necessary for patients to be quarantined before a cure was manufactured in the early 1960s at which point Waverly Sanatorium was shut down.

Many ex-visitors to the haunted hospital maintain that there are spirits there, angry and terrified "shadow people" that still roam the halls of the dilapidated facility. Will YOU brave the paranormal at Waverly Hills Sanatorium this Halloween season?
