I remember fondly the dress that I wore to my senior prom.  It was fire engine red, fully beaded, and the skirt was cut into slits so that when I twirled, the sashes spun out around me.  I felt gorgeous in that dress, and by simply putting it on, I knew that I was going to have a fabulous night.  Remembering my own great experience is what inspired me to make Cinderella’s Closet of Western Kentucky a family service project this spring.

Cinderella’s Closet of Western Kentucky offers a dress, accessories, and a day of pampering, free of charge, to girls who may not be able to afford the expense of prom.  They work hard to make sure that these ladies have a good experience and are shown the love of Christ.

My mother was in charge of the alterations department during  Cinderella’s Closet and while she helped the girls to determine where to pin and tuck, I managed the flow of dresses in and out of the department.  It was a busy day, and we were able to serve nearly 50 girls.

This week, Cinderella’s Closet is raising money for next year’s event.  They are offering boxed lunches for $10.  Lunch includes chicken salad on croissant, fruit, cheese, and dessert.  It is not too late to reserve your lunch and if your place of business orders 10 or more lunches, Cinderella’s Closet will even deliver!
