Wendell Betts is an author from Eastern Canada and he is the FIRST person that has ever reversed COPD! This in itself is unbelievable, especially if you know anything about COPD.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive lung disease that over time makes it hard to breathe.

Key Points

  1. COPD is chronic. In other words, you live with it every day.
  2. It can cause serious long-term disability and early death.
  3. There is no cure for COPD, but it is often preventable and treatable.
  4. COPD is sometimes referred to as chronic bronchitis or emphysema.

Wendell and I met in Dallas Texas at the Global Media Summit a few months ago. I love meeting people who are inspiring and give God the glory for their miracle! I wanted our listeners to be inspired by Wendell's story of courage and hope. Wendell explained that he was born with asthma and started having complications with his breathing at a very young age. Because of his complications, his lungs were severely scarred and damaged.

He was officially diagnosed with COPD at the age of 30 because of the severity of his lung condition. Most patients (80%) who suffer with COPD are long term smokers, but this was not the case with Wendell, he had never smoked. His condition became so bad that he was deemed permanently disabled by the age of forty-seven.

Then, in August 2012 Wendell was ready to die. He says it was the hardest day of his life and that he couldn't take living anymore. On that day, something got Wendell's attention, God clearly spoke to him.Even though his lung capacity was at a low 23%, God began to move through him and began to heal Wendell. Wendell knew then that God was going to heal him so that he could influence and give hope to a multitude of people.

He went to his doctor two weeks later and she told him that his lungs had increased to 29% from 23%. Six months later his lung capacity with up to 34% and six months later had increased to 40%. The doctors told Wendell that they had no record anywhere of anyone who had ever reversed COPD and come off oxygen without a lung transplant. Wendell was deemed a walking miracle, the "COPD Warrior."

Wendell has been interviewed by CBS and several well known television shows, asked to speak to crowds of 18 thousands at conferences and continues to be a spokesperson for the lung association. His book is titled, "Endurance going the distance from the Valley to the Mountain Top."
