Cyclist Hit and Killed on Carter Road

At this writing, fire trucks and other emergency vehicles are on the scene near the intersection of Carter Road and South York where a bicyclist has been hit and killed.

A source nearby counted six fire trucks and six police cars and saw the bicycle laying in the street.

Owensboro police have told 14News-WFIE that a car has heading north on Carter. A male bicyclist was trying to cross the street between Griffith and South York when he was hit by and adult motorist who pulled over and cooperated fully with authorities.

Owensboro police are telling us it's being treated as an accident.

That area of Carter was shut down for approximately one hour and 20 minutes.

The identity of the cyclist has not been revealed.
