Due to ongoing flooding concerns in Daviess County, the Fiscal Court has authorized the issuance of sandbags to residents to assist them with flooding mitigation efforts for their properties.

Each household can receive up to 50 filled or empty sandbags. Volunteers will be standing by to assist with filling, tying, and loading the sandbags.

Sandbagging operations will be at the Daviess County Public Works facility out on Highway 81, go through gate, turn left into third drive on left, the sandbagging station will be on the right.

Days and hours of operation:

Today/Tuesday: 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday (2/13): 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Saturday (2/16): 8:00 am until 4:00 p.m.

If you require more than 50 bags, Schrecker Supply Company has placed an order for 6,000 which should arrive by Wednesday. They come in a bundle of 100, are 16x24 and cost 74 cents each. Please call before going there, 270-684-6244.

For more information, you can call Daviess County Emergency Management at 270-684-8448. They need as many volunteers as possible to help with sandbagging.
