I imagine a lot of folks were wondering what a "funnel cloud" was doing crawling out of a July sky Monday afternoon. I know I would've.

But we would've been wrong.

It's called a "landspout."

I spoke with Eyewitness News Chief Meteorologist Wayne Hart about it and he said it's a type of cloud that isn't associated with a severe storm.
