Shaped by Faith guest Alicia Whear is here to discuss Part 2 of Eating Disorders. Alicia was on Shaped by Faith a Month ago and she shared her personal story of Anorexia and gave us insight into the signs and symptoms of eating disorders.

We both felt that there was so much more to information to discuss so we scheduled another radio show so that our listeners could get more valuable information.

There are 30 million people suffering from eating disorders.

Eating disorders affect people of all genders, ages, races, ethnicities, body shaped and weights, sexual orientations and socioeconomic statuses.

Eating disorders are real, complex, and devastating conditions that can have serious consequences for health, productivity, and relationships. They are not a fad, phase or lifestyle choice. Eating disorders are serious, potentially life-threatening conditions that affect a person’s emotional and physical health.

Alicia  helps us understand the seriousness of eating disorders as she shares her personal experience. Our hope is that this program will raise awareness of the seriousness of Eating Disorders and give people hope and insight into getting help.

Eating Disorders are not choices, but serious biologically influenced illnesses in genetically predisposed individuals.

Anorexia in particular has the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness.

Families are not to blame.

Early Detection and intervention are important!
