It was a blessing and an honor interviewing Cathy and Tommy Mullins. Both are gifted musicians who are using their God given talents and abilities to help others. Both Cathy and Tommy have been very active in supporting our Veterans. Tommy is a Veteran of the United States Army and Cathy is the President of the Kentucky Chapter of the American Gold Star Mothers. She also serves on their National Board.

Their Son, Spc. Brandon Scott Mullins who was serving in the Armed Forced was killed in action in Afghanistan on August 25, 2011. Since his death they have grown stronger in their Faith by relying upon God's strength and direction and have become instrumental in helping others who have also lost their loved one. Cathy and Tommy are doing some all star events in our community and on a national level. God has turned their tragedy of loss into a special platform to serve Him on a higher level. Their story is a story of God's transforming grace and healing.

They are both passionate about bringing awareness to our Veterans and have organized several key projects and foundations in honor of their Son Brandon.

Kentucky Remembers and the Brandon Scott Mullins Memorial Foundation are two key projects that are going strong and growing each year.

Kentucky Remembers started as a simple concert in 2012 to thank the Owensboro community for the outpouring of love and support for the Mullins family after their middle son SPC Brandon Scott Mullins  was killed in Afghanistan on August 25, 2011 when his unit was attacked by an IED.

Since that time, the Mullins family has collaborated with local businesses, veterans service organizations, and dozens of community volunteers in putting together five Veterans Day concerts and three Veterans Day 5K races. 2016 marked the union of these two events to coincide with the local Veterans Day Parade to create a one day extravaganza honoring our heroes.

In 2016, the Mullins family established the Brandon Scott Mullins Memorial Foundation to honor the life and legacy of their son through leadership scholarships.  This foundation also serves as the catalyst to streamline the efforts in putting together this signature project, Kentucky Remembers.  http://www.kentuckyremembers.org/

All proceeds from this day go toward several locally based veterans services organizations.

This Video is emotional and will touch your heart! Tommy wrote this Song about Brandon, "Twenty One." At the end of the Song you will hear Brandon's Voice Message he left for his parents.
