Green River Area Development District (GRADD) executive director Jiten Shah was recently appointed to serve on the Kentucky Voices for Health (KVH) Board of Directors.

KVH represents a partnership of over 150 organizations across the Commonwealth, de-scribing itself as “a coalition of concerned Kentuckians who believe that the best health care solutions are found when everyone works together to build them.” The group’s top priorities include:

·         Assuring that all Kentuckians have access to high quality, affordable health care;

·         Making prevention a priority for Kentucky’s health policies and programs;

·         Improving the efficiency and effectiveness of health care for Kentuckians; and

·         Improving the health of Kentucky’s children.

The group has targeted issues such as federal health care reform, Medicaid cost containment, child health care coverage, and smoking cessation. KVH receives grant funding from the Public Welfare Foundation, through the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky.

In addition to his overall leadership of the GRADD agency for the past 38 years, Shah has been instrumental in the success of the Green River Regional Health Council (GRRHC). GRRHC is comprised of organizations and individuals from Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union and Webster counties, with the goal of promoting healthy communities through education, motivation and evaluation.
