Groundbreaking Ceremony Set for International Bluegrass Music Museum
Ground will soon be broken for the International Bluegrass Music Museum at the corner of 2nd and Frederica in downtown Owensboro.
Banjo Cafe reports that a groundbreaking ceremony has been set for next Thursday, June 23rd at noon for the $15.4 million project, a collaboration between the City of Owensboro, the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and the International Bluegrass Music Museum.
With a view of the Ohio River, the museum will be the only full-scale bluegrass music museum in the world.
The new museum will house a 450-seat concert hall, a recording studio, an outdoor concert area which will seat 2000, a huge gift shop, a research library, teaching rooms and a rooftop restaurant overlooking downtown.
The construction contract was awarded to Peyronnin Construction of Evansville.
