Yesterday was an eventful day in the New Hartford Road/Burlew Boulevard area of Owensboro after a routine traffic stop led to the pursuit of a suspect by Kentucky State Police and ended with a bizarre collision.

A state trooper was about to cite the driver of a black Monte Carlo for speeding when he sped up and tried to drive off.

WTVQ/Lexington says that 25-year-old Oval Baize turned onto Burlew from New Hartford Road and THEN turned down a dead end street.

And you might have thought that was the end of it.

But, no.

Baize then fled his car on foot before eventually being caught by the officer.

The thing is, Baize left his Monte Carlo in REVERSE when he exited the vehicle, after which it hit the state police cruiser.

Oval Baize faces multiple drug charges. He was also charged with DUI, reckless driving, fleeing/evading, careless driving, speeding, and criminal mischief. He was also served two bench warrants.

He is currently lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.
