There have been a lot of stories about when the Real ID will be required in Kentucky, we now have answers thanks to a new announcement Monday by the Transportation Cabinet.

One of the big changes is if a resident doesn't fly or want the travel ID, he or she can upgrade to the new standard credential. The voluntary "travel ID", which will cost $48, will be available beginning in January and it will last for eight years.
