There were understandable concerns when it was announced that several Kroger stores around the country were discontinuing the 5% senior discount.

Most folks past retirement age depend on every little incentive they can find and this was cause for a bit of unease.

However, Kroger will counter that decision with one that could, really, all but nullify it.

The plan is to introduce a comprehensive price reduction plan, according to a report from Lexington's lex18.com.

The price reductions will seem to affect Kroger brand products like, for example, peanut butter which would drop from $2.29 to $149.

Another example cited was Kroger brand potato chips going from $1.99 to $1.49.

I'm no math expert, but that's a MUCH bigger drop than 5%.

The changes will go into effect on June 22nd.
