The Marching Eagles of Apollo High School will host the Apollo Eagle Classic on Saturday, Sept. 24. Opening ceremonies for the marching band competition begin at 4:45 p.m. as the Burns Middle School eighth-grade band performs the National Anthem. The day will conclude with an awards ceremony set for 7:15 p.m. The contest will take place at Eagle Stadium behind the school, located at 2280 Tamarack Road.

Schedule of participating bands and performance times is as follows:

5 p.m. – Owensboro Catholic High School

5:15 p.m. – Hancock County High School

5:30 p.m. – McLean County High School

5:45 p.m. – Union County High School

6:15 p.m. – Greenwood High School

6:30 p.m. – Madisonville North Hopkins High School

The Apollo High School Marching Eagles will perform in exhibition at 6:45 p.m. Their 2016 program is titled “Orpheus,” which tells the story of the Roman man of music and his adventure through the underworld to save his beloved Eurydice with the power of his music.

The program is open to the public. Tickets to the Apollo Classic are $7 per person. Children age 5 and younger are admitted free.

A variety of concessions will be available throughout the day, including hot dogs, burgers, pizza and a variety of snack items. A Cold Stone Creamery Station will be set up, along with the very popular Sweet Shop with Lemon Shake Ups.
