"Penguin Habitat" isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Evansville, but thanks to support from Mayor Lloyd Winnecke, Mesker Park Zoo is working on making it a reality.

According to Eyewitness News, Zoo officials plan on having a penguin exhibit in place within the next three to five years.

The Zoo is still seeking investors for the project, but Director Amos Morris says the project is moving forward with the plan being to house it near the main entrance on Mesker Park Drive. Morris told Eyewitness News the exhibit will replicate the South American habitat the penguins call home, and will feature an underwater viewing area for zoo guests.
