This would probably be more appropriate in October, but onlyinyourstate.com posted it in April, so why shouldn't I? Besides, if you wanted to visit these places, now's a great time to learn about them since the weather's getting better.

I have to say that I've never heard of some of the places on this list.

And some of them aren't exactly the textbook definition of "nearby."

But that's why road trips were invented. To take you to places like Erlanger and Custer and Perryville.

Seriously, who knew we had the "Gates of Hell" here in Kentucky. Or a haunted nightclub? (Just call Wanda Kay.)

And, of course, the various mansions and old battlefields that you just know are loaded with stories and who knows what else?

Actually, I've visited one of the spots listed...creepy old Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville. That picture up top is of one of its many spooky corners.
