Operation SafeTrade Begins at the Owensboro Police Department

The Owensboro Police Department is taking part in an initiative aimed at keeping those who make online transactions safe when meeting those with whom they've made such transactions.

Developed in 2015 by Florida-based Advanced Interactive Media Group, SafeTrade is an idea whose time has absolutely arrived.

Maybe it's overdue.

People make online transactions all the time, but some are not necessarily of the Amazon variety, where merchandise is shipped to your home.

Users of web-based classifieds like Craigslist can be at serious risk meeting a complete stranger whom they've only chatted with online.

SafeTrade makes this interaction safer by providing a meeting place for the transaction.

And that's why you'll now see the SafeTrade logo posted in the front parking lot and the lobby of the OPD.

Buyers and sellers can now arrange a meeting at the police department.

Can't think of a safer place.

This should surely decrease anyone's chance of becoming a victim of foul play. And if the person with whom you've made such arrangements doesn't show, well, you'll know it was a good thing you suggested meeting at OPD's SafeTrade location.

The Owensboro Police Department is open 24/7 and is under constant surveillance.
