I'm not a fan of writing a blog like this, but when a good man like David McCrady, beloved by so many, loses a hard-fought battle with cancer, a tribute is required.

David was a battalion chief with the Owensboro Fire Department.

Firerescue1.com posted a story from the Messenger-Inquirer when he retired after being diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013.

I did not know David well, but I knew him.

And what I DID know is what everyone knew--that he was just one of the best people you'd ever want to meet.
