The Owensboro Police Department's Professional Standards Unit has opened an investigation after a Facebook post was brought to the deparment's attention.

The post involved a juvenile who'd been photographed with a contusion to his forehead.

In the post, a claim was made that the injury was sustained during contact with an Owensboro police officer.

The OPD will investigate the actions of Owensboro police officers during an incident in which four juveniles fled from authorities on foot in the are of East 18th and Daviess Streets.

All four juveniles were apprehended a short while later.

"On Tuesday, August 25th, the Owensboro Police Department was contacted by
local media. A facebook post was brought to our attention concerning a juvenile
who was photographed with a contusion to his forehead; the posted message
claimed that the juvenile was injured during contact with an Owensboro Police
Officer.

Owensboro Police Department records indicate that on Monday, August 24th,
2015, at approximately 10:00 a.m., four juveniles fled from authorities on foot in
the area of E. 18th Street and Daviess Street. Owensboro Police Department
officers apprehended all four juveniles a short time later.

The Owensboro Police Department Professional Standards Unit has opened an
investigation into the actions of Owensboro Police officers during this incident
to determine whether proper policies and procedures were followed."
