Sometimes the Fourth of July falls on an awkward day of the week. It just can't help it. Such is the case this year when it will be on a Monday.

So Owensboro's fireworks extravaganza, the All-American Fourth of July Celebration, will happen Saturday, July 2nd, on the city's riverfront.

The event is sponsored by Meijer.

It will all start at 5PM with the Kid's Bike Parade down Veterans Boulevard. Kids 10 and under will be participating and are encouraged to really deck out their bikes, scooters, wagons, even strollers.

Plus, the kids who participate will receive free patriotic goodies after the parade and free food at 4th Fest which will take place inside the Owensboro Convention Center.

There will be live music at McConnell Plaza and the RiverPark Patio.

The 4th Fest, by the way, will begin in the Convention Center at 4PM and last until the fireworks display comes to a close.

Fireworks, accompanied by patriotic music from the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, will being at 9:15 that night.
