Pocketbooks are about to open wide as a result of the barge accident back in April on the Owensboro Riverfront.

As you'll recall, the barge broke away from its tug and hit the wall at Smothers Park.

14News/WFIE's Shaelie Clark managed to snag the photo you see below and is reporting that repairs could cost half a million dollars.

She also spoke with Owensboro city attorney Ed Ray who said that there's insurance to cover the damage, and, of course, the barge company is working with the insurance company.

Further inspections will determine whether or not there is any damage in addition to the hole left in the exterior panels following the collision.
