We have sad news to report this evening. Well-known restaurateur and community leader, Norman McDonald passed away this morning.

I was surprised to learn about Mr. McDonald's extraordinary life in his obituary penned by his wife of 64 years, Jo Ann McDonald.

"In 1964 he opened and managed Norman McDonald’s Country Drive-In in Philpot until 1987 when our son Grant took over. Our children were brought up in the restaurant. They were all taught responsibility and leadership. He had an opportunity to touch many young people’s lives. He was a route salesman for Holland Dairy from 1956 to 1963. He made a music record during that time and was Leroy Woodward’s hit pick of the week for two weeks. That got him the name “the Singing Milk Man.” Norman enjoyed working with youth through boy scouts and Royal Ambassadors and reached out to many throughout the growing years of our children."
