Just two weeks after WKU men's coach Ray Harper resigned, Meade County native and former Mississippi State head coach Rick Stansbury will be named the new men's coach at a press conference on Monday.

Stansbury played at Meade Co. High School and went on to play at Campbellsville University where he led the team to an NAIA championship his senior season. His first coaching job, as an graduate assistant at Campbellsville, was followed by assistant stints at Cumberland College in Kentucky, Austin Peay and Mississippi State.

Stansbury took the helm at Mississippi State in 1998 where he led the Bulldogs to six NCAA appearances before retiring in 2012. He was coaxed out of retirement two years ago to accept an assistant position back in the SEC on Billy Kennedy's staff at Texas A&M.

Stansbury will be the 11th head men's basketball coach at WKU.
