One of THE most famous basketball arenas on the planet has always looked, to me, like some sort of airplane hangar from the outside.

But, perhaps, no more.

That dull metal siding on Rupp Arena is going away as the adjacent Lexington Convention Center expands.

According to Kentucky Sports Radio, plans were revealed today that would indicate those metal panels will be replaced by new glass or transparent entrances to the arena.

I think that's pretty cool.

And if you're a regular UK basketball game attendee, but go for the nosebleeds, you're getting CHAIR BACK SEATS.

But back to that transparent covering.

I didn't realize Rupp Arena was only visible from one street, High Street. This new glass/transparent covering will open it up to views from other streets.

The renovation should be completed by December of 2020.

The Lexington Herald-Leader has posted renderings of what the all-new Rupp Arena will look like. Click here to check them out.
