My guest Frances Briner is making a huge impact on the lives and hearts of women inmates. Frances ministers to women inmates in the Daviess County Detention Center. She leads a bible study and is very involved with the Residents Encounter Christ program offered to inmates.
We need more people like Frances who are willing to step out of their comfort zone and into areas where they thought they would never go. Frances now dedictes her life by serving God in the jail ministry.
Since Frances is familiar with the Stability Ball and loves it, I decided to give her an exercise on the ball that also incorportes upper body strength training. The Lateral Raise is an exercise we can do just about anywhere, give it a try today!
Bent Arm Lateral Raise seated on the Ball
Together, raise both arms upward while bending the elbows just a little, rather than locking the arms straight at the elbows. Raise the weights no higher than level with the shoulders -- a little lower is fine -- then lower to the starting position at the sides or in front. Remember to exhale on exertion (the lift) and inhale on the return phase.
This exercise works the deltoid shoulder muscles, particularly the middle deltoid.
Variations include arms starting at the side and then lifting both up to the height of the shoulders, hinging forward at the hips in a squat or a seated position and lifting arms up while engaging the muscles in the back.
The LORD delights in those who fear him,who put their hope in his unfailing love. Psalm 147:11
