It seems that scammers leave no stone unturned, and they will even use the application process to see if you’ve filed for disability benefits under Social Security.  Your BBB®, the Social Security Inspector General, and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) want to alert you to the latest phishing scheme whereby these people want to obtain your personal information.

According to the FTC, they’re shooting in the dark and trying to cast a very broad net in hopes that they may catch someone who has begun the process of applying for disability benefits.

So if you receive an unsolicited e-mail supposedly from Social Security stating that you need to complete the process, and they provide a link to the website, don’t click on it!
