Amanda Owen is the Executive Director & Founder of Puzzle Pieces. She is also the center piece of this nonprofit organization that provides a safe environment for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Amanda had a dream years ago to help families and individuals who have intellectual disabilities have a safe place to learn and socialize. Her dream came true on September the 4th, 2012 when she first opened the doors of Puzzle Pieces.

Amanda, along with her amazing growing number of caring staff members are helping so many individuals in our community. Puzzle Pieces is an activity center that promotes independence, life skills, community access and involvement, social interaction, communication, self-worth and build trusting relationships between clients, staff, and families. The atmosphere of this facility is just like home, a place where individuals from 8 years of age to 40 something are finding comfort and encouragement.

Amanda shares with us on Shaped by Faith that Puzzle Pieces is growing and expanding with the addition of another facility called, the Center Piece. This brand new  facility is available for those who are 18 years and older. Center Piece will  provide a person-centered environment that supports the desire of clients to become more independent, socially accepted, and learn skills to maximize efforts in securing employment and/or volunteer opportunities.

You have to listen to Amanda's story, it will touch your heart and help you better understand why there is such a need for Puzzle Pieces and the Center Piece in our Community!

You can listen to Amanda share her story behind starting Puzzle Pieces and the Center Piece on  Shaped by Faith Radio this  Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 am on 99.1 FM and 1490 AM WOMI. http://womiowensboro.com/listen-live/popup/
