I took my first trip in very long time to the Kentucky State Fair. It was me, Mom, Dad, my sister, my brother-in-law (who is from Louisville) and of course Zoey. Our main objective in going was to surprise Zoey with a visit to see some of her favorite TV characters from 'Paw Patrol'. Take a look!

The Paw Patrol van was only going to be at the fair opening weekend. The line stretched for hundreds of yards, kids LOVE this show! Now you see that van, well, we came to find out, it was only for show, no indoor tour. In fact, kids got to take a photo with either Marshall, he drives the fire truck, or Chase, he's the policeman. Zoey chose...

The food was amazing! Mom and I split the deep fried Hot Brown and the deep fried Derby Pie. I think the rest of the family opted for more traditional fare, such as brisket sandwiches, pork chop sandwiches, ice cream. Yes I tried the Pineapple Whip, pretty tasty. The crowd was huge; I thought we lost Zoey at one point in the exhibition halls. We couldn't convince her to go look at all of the animals, but Dad and I checked everything out.

AWWWWW! You couldn't stir them with a stick at the pig pen. Some were asleep, some were eating. And this was also uber cute...

These little ducklings would jump up for their food, then slide down into the water. They were then wrangled and they all went up and down again. Now that's a pretty cushy water park experience.

These llamas weren't having it. I had to do my best Napoleon Dynamite, "Eat the food!"

Dad and I split off again to check out the antiques and culinary prize winners. Now this is a wedding cake...

Quilting was something my Dad's mom (Mamaw) and her mother (Mamaw Brown) excelled at. This would have been a little out of their comfort zones...

One other quick story; I hadn't been on a ride at a fair, amusement park, etc. in 10 plus years. Zoey wanted me to ride one with her and it was a, oh think the tea cups at Disney World meets giant enclosed, hot dragons. I say tea cups because as soon as the ride started moving, Zoey and our other passengers decided to spin our Puppy for all it was worth. Bleccch! Okay, so I didn't feel sick until the ride stopped and I may have finished off an adult beverage right before I got on. As soon as we stopped, the spins, though not that bad, started to hit. As soon as I got off, my sister said I was white as a sheet. I knelt down and my brother-in-law kept saying, "don't do it right here in the middle!" Luckily, I did not regurgitate and I cooled off in the shade. Close call!

The Kentucky State Fair runs through August 30th. It was a blast!
