Today I am choosing joy.

This choice doesn’t solve all my problems, but it helps me see them in a new way.

This choice doesn’t shrink my pants size, but it takes away my greed for food.

This choice doesn’t remove my wrinkles, but it makes my smile shine brighter.

This choice doesn’t bring me more stuff, but it makes me more generous with what I have.

This choice doesn’t clean up my messes, but it gives me hope that I’ll see the carpet again.

This choice doesn’t make everyone like me, but it draws my true friends closer.

This choice doesn’t guarantee me a promotion, but it proves to my boss that I am willing to serve.

This choice doesn’t raise perfect children, but it models for them consistency and love.

This choice doesn’t protect my marriage from disagreements, but it humbles me to listen with an open heart.

This choice doesn’t take away my burden, but it makes me stronger to carry it.

This choice doesn’t ensure that every time I get my way, but it reminds me that God’s way is always best.

Today I am choosing joy because I believe in the risen Christ, and therefore, there is no other choice.

“Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” 1 Peter 1:8-9 NIV
