Kentucky fans were no doubt watching with great pleasure as the Wildcats routed yet another overmatched SEC opponent, this time Alabama--final score 70-55. This completes the season sweep of the Crimson Tide for UK. But another score MUST have caught their attention as well...and may have been met with mixed emotions.

About 424 miles off to the east, the Virginia Cavaliers were hosting the Duke Blue Devils.

As you may know, until Saturday evening, the 'Cats and the Cavs were the only undefeated teams in the US of A.

Again, that was UNTIL Saturday evening.

Duke waltzed into Charlottesville and waltzed out with the biggest win of its season to date. Virginia is no longer an unbeaten team. That ridiculously efficient pack-line defense used by Coach Tony Bennett--and invented by his father Dick Bennett--didn't work against the Blue Devils, who trailed by as much as 11 but closed out the game on a 16-5 run and are now in possession with what is arguably the best road win of the year by anyone.

Here's my guess.

I know Big Blue Nation likely LOVES the idea of Kentucky now being the only team in America with a goose egg in the loss column.

And it absolutely should.

But I'm sure 'Cat fans would likely sacrifice that distinction for just a little bit longer since the team they LOVE to hate--Duke--is responsible for it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Rivalries...RIVALRIES! I love 'em. Best thing about sports. And they are absolutely partially responsible for keeping the heart of college basketball beating.
