Vietnam Vets to Be Honored in Owensboro This Weekend

This weekend, Vietnam veterans will be honored by the city of Owensboro as part of the United States of America Vietnam War Commemorative Partner Program.

Friday afternoon, February 19th, at 2PM, Vietnam vets will be honored with a flag presentation at the Shelton Memorial downtown. The public is invited.

This Sunday, February 21st, the activities continue at the Owensboro Sportscenter as the Kentucky Mavericks are inviting all veterans to "Military Night" even though it will begin at 4PM.

Hey, it'll ALMOST be nighttime.

The Mavericks/Lake Michigan Admirals game will only be $6.00 for veterans.

And if you are a veteran, just show your military ID, DD Form 214 showing honorable discharge from the armed forces, veterans organization membership card, Veterans Health ID card, car registration showing a military plate, or active/reserve members in uniform.

There will be a ceremony at halftime honoring veterans in recognition of the Vietnam War's 50th anniversary.

A commemorative lapel pin will be given to each veteran.
