Last week, it was decided that Gabe's Tower had finally run its course and would be demolished. A long-standing Owensboro icon and a defining part of the city's skyline will eventually be gone.

John Lumea is a friend of mine--an Owensboro native whom I've known since I was probably two years old--and has been following the progress of Gabe's Tower and its fate from his home in California.

And when he heard the verdict on the old barn, he blogged a suggestion about what could be done with it.

He referenced the work that was done on the old Smith-Werner Building downtown--a building that's now home to Gambrinus and Bee Bop's and looks spectacular.

His suggestion is "grand scale" type stuff, and it's probably too late, but the idea is AMAZING.

Click here and read what he's suggested. A LOT of thought was put into it and it's very impressive.
