Did you know some phone numbers in Western Kentucky were supposed to be assigned with a 364 instead of a 270 area code? It's a random blog idea, but here's how I came to it.

I regularly search "Owensboro" on Twitter and this tweet and thread came up.

Yes, there are several other little communities that can be added to the list, but I got to thinking how long has it been since we all switched to 270? I set off for more research. The area code 270 was split from the 502 in April of 1999, nearly 20 years ago. Yep, it's been that long. Any number that was now in the Eastern Time Zone would keep 502 though that's not necessarily true. Elizabethtown and Radcliff, and other towns in Hardin County, in the EST zone have 270 numbers. Louisville has 502, Lexington 859 and further into Eastern Kentucky, 606.

Okay, so apparently, as more numbers were assigned, there was another area code that was to be used in parts of Western Kentucky: 364. I don't know one single person or business that has a 364 area code. According to this site, a big majority of our listeners have the 364 area code, but I don't completely buy it.

HERE is when 364 was supposed to take effect. If you have a 364 area code, let us know! My curiosity is piqued!
