In February of 2008, a fire destroyed Ward's Trend House Furniture Store on E.14th Street & Moseley and the apartments above it. At the time the owners intended to open a new business and they already had inventory in the building. Over nine years later, the lot is vacant with green grass, save for the Ward's sign.

The question is, should something new be built on the lot? Why is the sign still up? It instills the effect of a once great business. I also looked up "Ward's Trend House" and they still have the phone number listed online. I called it to see what would happen and I got the "this number has been disconnected" message. Since the sign is up and it was untouched by the fire, it's almost as if it's an historical landmark.

This is just another section of Owensboro that really needs sprucing up.
