It's here, the first full week of school for most everybody, including my niece Zoey. I got to talking with my sister recently and we discussed what time we remember going to bed on a school night. I quickly realized times have changed and we may not have set the best example. An elementary school in Kenosha, Wisconsin recently posted a handy chart to help resolve the issue. All right, so Zoey is 5 and her Mommy and Daddy both work at the high school, so my sister told me they try to get up by 6:45 AM, thus Zoey should be in bed on a school night by 7:30 PM. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's closer to 8:30-9:00 PM. I know I never went to bed before 10 on a school night, and my Dad, who was an teacher for 35 years, he went to bed at, oh, sometimes 4 in the morning and he would wake right back up at 7.

We had a couple of factors to our advantage. Our school, the old Wayland, wasn't even a quarter mile away, so we could sometimes get away with getting up by 7:30 AM. However, I took the bus most of the time, so I would need to be at the bus stop, which was the end of my street at no later than 7:30. School in Ohio County then started at 8:00 AM sharp.

I know after just three days, Zoey was a little tired. I just hope she gets in the groove of getting up at 6:45. Ugh! I don't know if I could do it. But then again, I do an overnight show, so...
