Opie was in Kentucky. Richie Cunningham was, too. And whaddya know? So was the Oscar-winning director of A Beautiful Mind.

It would've been nicer if Ron Howard had paid a visit to THIS side of the Commonwealth, but if he's working on a project, and it's gonna help pour money into the Kentucky economy, I'm good.

According to WYMT-Hazard, Howard was dining at the White Flash #2 (sadly, a little too far for a Tri-State Bucket List entry) in Jackson, Kentucky and, while he didn't say what he was doing there, we do know he's working on an adaptation of J.D. Vance's Hillbilly Elegy, a memoir that includes a story about Vance's grandparents moving from Jackson to Middletown, Ohio.

While he kept his intentions under wraps, Ron Howard isn't the kind of person who just shows up at an Eastern Kentucky diner because he heard the burgers were good.

I smell location scouting.

Hey, as far as I'm concerned, Kentucky is RIPE for location shooting.

Bring it on!
