Winter Storm Warning Extended for Additional Kentucky Counties

Wow! A winter weather event that wasn't supposed to drop more than a couple of inches of additional lighter, more powdery snow on the tri-state decided to have other ideas somewhere along the way Monday afternoon.

I think we were all taken a little by surprise when the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning earlier this evening, pretty much guaranteeing that the snow wasn't going away anytime soon at that point.

Well, what were once the far eastern border counties of that warning are no longer, now that the winter storm warning has been extended and has included additional counties.

The message from the NWS brings the unwelcome news of light snow bands continuing into Tuesday.

Most areas can expect accumulations of up to 2 inches with some spots possibly receiving between 3 and 5 inches.

As such, the winter storm warning now includes Ohio, Hancock, Perry, Butler, Grayson, and Breckenridge Counties.

It lasts until Noon Central on Tuesday.

And we'll stay below freezing until Thursday when we're expecting the balmy mid-30s.

So, last year we didn't have much of a winter. I guess this year, winter is making up for lost time.
