It was just last week we reported a molten aluminum spill about a mile south of the Natcher Bridge on 231.

Well, there's now been another accident (no molten aluminum involved, thank God) in the same area.

14News/WFIE is reporting that the William Natcher Bridge has been shut do wn due to a wreck at the intersection of U.S. Highways 60 and 231.

The accident, involving a semi and another vehicle, has led to detours to the Blue Bridge in downtown Owensboro.

Also, power lines are down meaning it will take an unknown amount of time before the bridge is clear for travel.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has told us that "both the northbound and southbound lanes of US HIGHWAY 231 North and eastbound and westbound lanes of US 60 are blocked at the intersection near the William Natcher Bridge after a SEMI struck another vehicle in the intersection.  The crash knocked down power lines and the traffic signal that are now reported to be blocking all lanes of the intersection.  The SEMI is also reported to be leaking diesel fuel."

Please drive carefully. The morning rain has caused more than just a few wrecks in the tri-state already today.
