The Brady Bunch is certainly much sillier today than it was when it first aired in the late 1960s and early 1970s. However, I enjoy it more now.

I mean, I know all the episodes. And when it shows up--usually on MeTV--I always check to see which one it is.

The humor is there. I just couldn't get to it when I was young.

Around here, the one episode that stands out, I guess, more than all the rest is the one where the Bradys and Alice go to Kings Island in Cincinnati.

It was filmed there and aired in November of 1973, during the iconic sitcom's final season.

VisitKingsIsland.com tells us that that episode began filming 47 years ago today and was shot over a five-day period--from August 20th through August 24th.

I'm old enough to remember watching it when it originally aired.

And it was a blast to see an episode of this iconic series set and filmed so close to home.

What's more, Florence Henderson's sister, who was from Daviess County, had a cameo in the episode (she was standing in line for a ride and had no dialogue) and my mom had worked with her at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital (the former name of OHRH).

So yeah, "Owensboro connection" is in the headline, but it's more than just Florence. It was a little closer to home which was, and IS, so cool.

Happy 47th, Brady Bunch Kings Island episode.
