The Importance of Youth Sports

The positive impact that sports can have on kids is truly underrated. I grew up playing sports (albeit, not well) and watching my brother play sports (he, on the other hand, played very well). I have many fond memories of spending Saturday mornings on the soccer field or watching my brother play baseball. And it turns out that participating in sports can have a very positive impact on kids.

The American Academy of Pediatrics says that sports are a great way to help kids develop physical skills, get exercise, learn teamwork, learn to play fair, and are a great way to help kids make friends. So there are many great reasons why the community should help support youth sports programs.

Evansville South Baseball Robbed

Evansville South Baseball is located at Pollack and Vann in Evansville and provides baseball programs for kids aged 4-14. Unfortunately earlier this week Evansville South Baseball had their concession stand robbed, and they are in need of donations of items to help re-stock the concession stand.

City Councilwoman Missy Mosby took to Facebook and shared the news of the robbery with a call to action:

If you see something, say something! Last night, our concession stand for Evansville South Baseball - Pollack and Vann was broken into and all of their food and supplies were stolen. PLEASE if you have any information call 911.
Also, we are scheduled to have a game on Thursday night, if you would like to help us stock the concession stand, we could use the following donations:
Hot dogs & buns
Hamburgers & buns
Chips
Candy bars
Gatorade
Soft drinks
Monetary donations
Thank you for your support.

Missy has since updated the post noting that many of the items needing to be replaced have already been donated by community members and businesses, below is what is being donated, and what they are still needing:
