USA Today's panel of travel experts combed through resorts all across the country and chose 20 to be in the running for the best in the nation, and one is right here in the Hoosier State!

Resort Getaways

When planning a vacation, many folks opt to go the resort route instead of the traditional hotel route. Resorts differ from hotels because they are usually more of an all-in-one experience.  When staying at a resort, you can find all kinds of entertainment without ever having to leave the property. In a recent article, Citi explains resorts as "playgrounds," whereas hotels are usually just places for rest.

What is a resort? Resorts, on the other hand, are like all-in-one vacation playgrounds, bursting with fun activities and delightful amenities. Understanding these differences can elevate your travel experience, shaping everything from the vibe of your stay to the exciting extras waiting for you. (Citi)

For this reason, resorts are often popular for family getaways, because you can often find plenty of activities for the kids and the adults. One family-friendly resort that's not too far from the Tri-State was recently recognized on a national level.

USA Today had a panel of travel experts choose 20 top-notch resorts across the country, and is putting them to the vote to find the best family resort experience in the nation. Among the 20 nominees is a resort that many of us in the Tri-State are very familiar with, the French Lick Resort.

Best Family-Friendly Resorts in the Country

20 resorts across the United States made this list and are in the running to be named the Best Family-Friendly resort in the United States, and here is why USA Today chose the French Lick Resort to be in the running:

A world of leisure unto itself, French Lick Resort encompasses two historic hotels, a newer accommodations tower, plus outdoor activities from golf to horseback riding. Specifically for the kids, the Activities Center is a great place for crafts and games, as well special events like movies on the lawn, pool parties, and circus performances.
