GROSS: Indiana Dollar Tree Urine Candle Bandit on the Loose
A Dollar Tree in Indiana has quite an interesting problem where someone is peeing in their candles for a month, and they can't catch them.
Everyone loves to have scented candles in their home, especially this time of year. When you go to the store to buy candles, you don't just read the label and say "I'll take that." No, you have to open up the lid and smell the candle to decide if that's the scent that you want in your home or not. That being said, if you're buying Dollar Tree candles in Indiana, you might want to think twice. I found an interesting and disgusting article online from WSBT in South Bend that blew my mind. It's a story that will make you think "What is wrong with people?!"
Pee Bandit on the Loose in Indiana
A mother was at a Dollar Tree in South Bend, Indiana recently with her nine-year-old daughter. They were shopping for a gift for her teacher. At one point, they were smelling candles. The girl opened one up, tipped it to smell it, and had a liquid pour on her shirt. At first, they thought it was some kind of water or something, but it had a bad smell, and that's when they realized that it was PEE.
GROSS!
According to WSBT, they reported it to the manager, and to her credit, she offered the girl her shirt as a replacement. The manager told them that she was aware that someone (or some people) had been peeing in the candles for at least the past month, and they hadn't been able to catch them yet. First off, how does someone get away with doing that? Apparently, there are no cameras down that aisle. The manager said that they have told corporate, and asked for a solution like installing cameras or something, but they haven't done anything to help them.
The mother took her daughter to get checked out, and she's fine. She says she also reported it to the police, and they're investigating. There aren't any specifics on how many "candle incidents" there have been at that Dollar Tree, but clearly there have been enough for the employees to know this is a recurring issue, and to have already reached out to corporate for help. If it's happening there, who's to say that these "pee bandits" aren't attempting this at any other store?
This is absolutely disgusting that someone would do this to unsuspecting customers. A child fell victim to this! Unacceptable. My hope is that whoever is behind this is caught, and this trend does not continue.
