Everyone deserves an opportunity to succeed in this life, regardless of any physical or mental barriers they may face. For over four decades, the National Organization on Disability (NOD) has been working toward the goal of creating a more inclusive and equitable society. Using data, various tools, resources, and hands-on support, the organization seeks to build a world where people with and without disabilities have equal opportunities to find work, earn a fair wage, and advance their careers.

Each year, NOD releases a list of Leading Disability Employers, recognizing companies with the highest performance in disability inclusion practices and policies. According to Inside Indiana Business, NOD's Leading Disability Employers list is not a ranking but is based on the results of an assessment of business practices related to the hiring, retention, and advancement outcomes for people with disabilities. This year, the list includes two businesses from Indiana: one based in Indianapolis and another in Evansville.

Evansville-based Old National Bank

The second company on NOD's Leading Disability Employers list is located a little closer to home. Old National Bank started on the shore of the Ohio River in 1834 at the heart of what would eventually become Evansville. Today, the company has over 3,000 employees and counting.

"Inviting diversity and activating our core value of inclusion are critical to our success. We are thrilled to be recognized for what we believe is a differentiator for our team members, clients, and the communities we serve,” said Corliss Garner, Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer at Old National Bank. “Our commitment to uplifting people with apparent and non-apparent disabilities promotes an inclusive work environment that attracts talent and makes us stronger as an organization."

Indiana Goodwill Stores Will Not Accept These 24 Items

So much of what we accumulate, we don't really use. Some of the stuff that is cluttering up our closets, basements, spare bedrooms, and garages is in good condition and can easily be used by someone else.

Other items that have simply worn out or broken need to be cleaned out or replaced, too. But, Goodwill is not the place for those items.

Here is what Goodwill says about items that they can't and won't take.
