According to a list compiled by Far & Wide:

To help tourists avoid disappointing attractions, <a href="https://www.rentcafe.com/blog/apartmentliving/lifestyle-apartmentliving/the-most-overrated-and-underrated-tourist-attractions-in-each-state/" target="_blank">Rent Cafe</a> surveyed 2,500 people throughout every U.S. state to get the local perspective on which spots are the most overrated (too pricey, too many crowds, too boring) and which attractions are the most underrated (gorgeous, interesting, affordable, crowd-free).

They compared the opinions of Rent Cafe respondents to traveler experiences and ratings on Tripadvisor, to find the most overrated and underrated tourist attraction in each state.

Most Underrated Tourist Attraction in Indiana

Before we get into the most underrated tourist attraction in Indiana, you might be curious as to what Far & Wide said was the most overrated tourist attraction. That happens to be what was also named as the best tourist attraction in Indiana in another article, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Now, onto the most underrated tourist attraction in the state. Far & Wide says that is Indiana Dunes State Park, Chesterton.

Here's what Far & Wide said about the most underrated tourist attraction in Indiana:

<p>Nestled along Lake Michigan, Indiana's shoreline is met with dunes and forests in a setting that would have most people asking, "This is Indiana?"</p><p>This state park will challenge every stereotype you have about Indiana being only farmland.  </p><p>Says Geoff D: "While the shore and the dunes are beautiful and interesting I think the old growth black oak forest (some up to 140 feet high and many hundreds of years old) is the gem of this park."</p>

Would you agree or disagree with these findings? Personally, I have never been to Indiana Dunes, but it has been something that I've wanted to see for quite some time. I'm happy to know that it's worth the trip.
