An incredible celestial event is taking place over the next few weeks across Indiana and Kentucky, and all you have to do is look up!

6 Planets Are in Alginment Across the Night Sky for a "Parade of Planets"

Of all the planets in the solar system, there are five of them that you can see with nothing more than your naked eye. Right now, four of those 5, plus two more planets that require a telescope to be seen, and the moon are making a rare alignment.

If you are like me and you get excited about things like astronomy you might also be excited to learn that you will be able to see four different planets when you look at the sky in the early evening hours over the next couple of weeks.

See the Moon, Stars & a Parade of Planets

Not only will you be able to look up to see the moon and stars but four different planets will be available to see without the need for a telescope or other lensed gear. All you are going to need to see these planets will be the lenses you were born with - your naked eye.

When Will The 'Parade of Planets' Be Visible

Saturn, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter will all be visible to the naked eye throughout the remainder of January and into early February. In addition to the four planets visible to the naked eye, and the moon, Neptune and Uranus are also in alignment at this time but they wil require a telescope to view.

Where To Look for the 'Parade of Planets' in the Night Sky

The Farmer's Almanac says to see the parade of planets, you will need to look to the south after sunset. You will be able to see, from left to right, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus, Neptune, and Saturn arc across the sky.

In January and February 2025, six planets will form a giant arc in the evening sky: Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus, Neptune, and Saturn. At the end of February, Mercury will join the fun, replacing Saturn.

Add The Moon to the Mix

Not only will the six planets be aligned, but the moon is getting in on the magic too. It will fall into alignment and will be visible in the night sky between Uranus and Venus in the arc.
