BBQs in Illinois hit different in the summer.  The smells.  The delicious foods.  The company from friends and family.  The warm weather.

Because we only have summer for a few months in this all-seasons state, we take full advantage of all the outdoor activities we can do; hiking, kayaking, picnics at the park, and backyard bbqs.

"We brought potato salad"

Yeah, and so did everyone else who showed up.

"You put ketchup on your brat?"

You'll probably get judged for asking that.

I'm so allergic to mosquitoes, I'm always the one to say this!

"Who invited him?!"

We all say this about the uncle who makes everything political.

"I'm gonna eat inside, it's too hot out here."

Says the person who has been asking for summer to get here because winter felt like it would never end in Illinois.

When you're at your family BBQ, what do you hear the most?  My family talk over each other, so I can't really tell what anyone is ever saying.  I'm just there for the food that I didn't have to cook.  I'll always show up for the food.

Grab a plate.

Dodge the mosquitoes.
